Bringing you music to help you beat the game of life
Growing up immersed in the sounds and culture of hip-hop, Bobby Maul, known artistically as Bobby B Game, cultivated a deep love for music, though initially he didn't envision it as a viable career path. His early musical influences were the pioneering hip-hop acts of the time, artists whose music his grandmother considered too secular and thus off-limits. Bobby, who was only five when his own mother died, was raised by his grandmother. His father was uninvolved.
Recognizing her grandson's natural inclination towards worldly influences, his grandmother presented him with a unique challenge: to infuse his rap lyrics with Christian themes instead of the secular content prevalent in non-Christian music. This was during a period when Christian hip-hop was still a relatively niche genre, with few artists openly rapping about their faith. She encouraged Bobby to weave more explicit references to Jesus into his songs.
While still exposed to and, at times, influenced by the alluring narratives of money, sex, and drugs that often permeated mainstream hip-hop – themes that occasionally found their way into his early work – Bobby couldn't entirely dismiss his grandmother's compelling challenge. Ultimately, he embraced it, embarking on a journey of crafting rhymes that centered on his Christian faith. This led to opportunities to perform his music within church settings and various ministry events, at a time when Christian hip-hop had yet to achieve its current widespread popularity. Throughout this period, Bobby balanced his burgeoning musical expression with various jobs, keeping music as a cherished and evolving hobby. He later channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into establishing his own music, marketing, and production company, Clear Marketing Vision, through which he contributed to the production of other hip-hop albums and promoting artists.
A pivotal moment arrived in the early 2000s when Bobby learned about an international peace organization's competition aimed at promoting peace in conflict-ridden regions. The grand prize was a coveted opportunity to record with Timbaland and other prominent producers at their studio. The competition's core requirement was to write a song advocating for peace and justice. This experience served as Bobby's initial foray into a more "humanitarian" style of hip-hop – rap music focused on the broader welfare of humanity, often transcending purely religious themes to champion constructive lifestyles and the overall well-being of people.
Bobby enlisted his cousin, and together they collaborated on a song that would become a significant piece in his repertoire, titled "What would peace be like." This powerful track resonated deeply, earning him third place out of over 1,000 submissions. His victory afforded him the life-changing opportunity to travel to Jerusalem, where he performed and immersed himself in Jewish culture, witnessing firsthand the unifying power of people coming together from diverse corners of the globe. As an emerging international artist, Bobby observed that many hip-hop enthusiasts outside the United States held him in high regard simply because he could rap and perform. Upon his return to the States, Bobby increasingly engaged in missionary work, traveling overseas to share his faith and offer service.
However, the intrinsic drive to create music never waned. A chance encounter with Watson at a meaningful Christmas party sparked a connection between the two artists, as they discovered a shared passion for music and media collaboration. This initial meeting blossomed into studio sessions and the exchange of creative visions. Consequently, Bobby began performing with Beyond Me Entertainment, aligning himself with the initiative's mission to utilize music and artistic talent to inspire future generations of artists to embrace a more humanitarian approach. For Bobby, music serves as a potent source of inspiration, capable of uplifting spirits and motivating others to lead more positive and purposeful lives.
Beyond his musical pursuits, Bobby is also involved in real estate ventures and is a devoted father and loving husband. He resides in Indianapolis with his wife, Jana, and their three daughters.
